10 Warning signs that Your body is Lacking Water

It is a fact that we cannot live without water.

It is a fact that we cannot live without water. The body cannot survive more than 72 hours, without water. The human body contains 65% water. There can be considerable variation in body water percentage based on a number of factors like age, weight, health and love.

Every part of our body depends on water, so make sure to drink water, because you will have numerous benefits like:

  • -Promoting the elimination of waste products and toxins
  • -Keeping your skin hydrated and youthful
  • -Protecting your tissues, spinal cord and joints
  • -Lubricating your joints and eyes
  • -Balancing the body fluids
  • -Promoting digestion
  • -Controlling calorie intake
  • -Regulating body temperature

Proper hydration is essential for our health. So make sure you consume lots of fluids and to eat foods rich in water to keep your body hydrated.
But in some situations like diarrhea, vomiting, excessive sweating your body can lose more water.
In this post, you will see which are the signs and symptoms of dehydration.

1. Brain fog or poor concentration

Not only headaches, lacking water in the body, will negatively affect your mood, memory and decision-making skills.
There are major reasons for brain fog, and one of them is lack of water in the body. Lacking water will include difficulties in communicating, thinking, forgetfulness etc.

2. Constipation and digestive issue

The water in body is also needed by the digestive system. So in case of dehydration, you may experience constipation, as the loss of fluid leads to a hardened stool. Dehydration can be caused also by vomiting and diarrhea, which can lead to indigestion and acid reflux, if are not treated on time.

3. Abrupt food cravings

Drink a glass of water before you get something to eat, because we crave for food when our body needs water. If you lack water in the body, consume a sports drink which has sodium or drink the mixture of fresh lemon juice, teaspoon of salt and a glass of water, because the body in this case has a great need for a salty food. Also eat papaya, watermelon, berries etc.

4. Pain in the joints and muscles

Our joints and cartilage are made of 80% water. This means that if you lack water in the body, it can cause painful joints, because it will increase the friction between the bones. You can experience also cramps and muscle spasm.

5. Headaches and dizziness

Dehydration will reduce the flow of oxygen and blood to the brain, causing headaches. And if you also have decreased amount of liquid in your brain, you will experience dizziness and migraines.  If you notice headaches or dizziness just drink a glass of water.

6. Bad breath and dry mouth

If lack of water in the body, you can experience bad breath, because it will proliferate bacteria in the oral cavity. Because the water has a function of a lubricator (hydrate the mucus membranes in the throat), that is why you will experience dry mouth.

7. Fatigue and lethargy

Lack of water in the brain will lead to low blood pressure and insufficient supply of oxygen throughout your body. This is why you may experience lethargic feelings(sleepiness and exhaustion).
If you lack water in the body, it will have disadvantageous effects in the transport of important nutrients to cells. Because of this it will spend additional energy, leading to fatigue.


8. Decreased need for urination and changed urine color

If you drink water, that means you will feel the need to urinate more often. So in case if you don’t feel the need to urinate in a longer period of time you may lack water in the body. You need to urinate 4-7 times daily. And if you don’t urinate you will keep all the toxins in your body. If you notice that your urine is dark yellow or amber-colored, you are lacking water in the body.

9. Dry skin and lips

Your skin will be dry if you lack water in the body, because water provides skin elasticity.  It will excess dirt on your skin also because you will sweat less, if you lack water.
Dry and chapped lips are another signs of dehydration.
10. Accelerated heartbeat
Lack of water in the body leads to more viscous blood and decreases the volume of the plasma, which leads to a circulation of the blood and accelerated heart rate. A study was made to prove that dehydration can change the heartbeat.
Lack of water can also lead to alterations in the electrolytes levels in your body.

Prevention

Water in the body is needed for the overall health. So you need to drink big amounts of water. At the beginning of your day, drink glass of water at room temperature. Also before each meal drink you should drink glass of water. Always have a bottle of water in you. Reduce the consumption of alcohol, energy drinks, and caffeinated drinks, and increase the intake of fruits and vegetables that are rich in water.  In case of fever, diarrhea and vomiting, increase your consumption of water to prevent dehydration.

Immediately consult your doctor, if you notice dizziness, rapid or weak pulse, extreme thirst or no need to urinate often, in order to prevent more serious health diseases.
